On Friday, September 21 the Prosperity Partnership, partnering with the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance, hosted a tour of Kitsap County.
The tour began with a ride on Kitsap Transit‘s Rich Passage ferry from Seattle to Bremerton. Participants then bussed to the Port of Bremerton for presentations on the port and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard before getting a tour of SAFE Boats. SAFE Boats has designed a collar flotation system that wraps around the boat that uses the foam designed to insulate the Alaska oil-pipeline.
The next stop was Watson in Poulsbo, where attendees toured the furniture factory floor and heard about how the company came to be awarded Seattle Business magazine’s Manufacturer of the Year for 2012. For example, 100% of all the wood substrate material used to make the furniture is collected from Northwest milling operations.
Lunch was held at Kiana Lodge, sponsored by Port Madison Enterprises. During the meal, participants heard from a panel of Kitsap IT companies Avalara, Applied Technical Systems (ATS) and Paladin Data Systems. After lunch the tour visited the new Suquamish Museum.
The Seattle Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present Mr. Pavan Sukhdev who will discuss his new book Corporation 2020. Sukhdev lays out a new vision for corporations that will increase social equity, decrease environmental risks and generate profit.
From his insightful look at the history of corporations to the steps needed to craft a better corporate model, Sukhdev offers a hopeful vision for the role of business in shaping a sustainable future.
