Hachi Machi, That’s a lot of Economic Impact!

Big press conference today announcing the economic impact of Boeing winning the Air Force aerial refueling tanker contract. And the numbers are: 11,000 jobs and $693 million annually!

We here at the Prosperity Blog have been big cheerleaders for Boeing getting the tanker contract. I mean, what’s not to like? It’s a big government contract that creates jobs here in the region and is not tied to the economic ups-and-downs of the commercial airline industry. Obviously, it’s going to be a tough competition for the job, but the more we can all to do support it the better…and those numbers make it a lot easier to motivate.

As a side note, you know what else helps people get motivated to support a good cause like this? A giant trailer driving around the country that contains a state-of-the art, hands-on refueling demonstrator and advanced flight deck simulator. Man oh man, would I love to get me into that trailer…
